How much do you move?? Time to check…??

So we’re doing a step challenge in October- inspired by the NHS 30 minute walk per day. We put out a blog last month about the NHS initiative that will be launched in early 2027 (Movement 26.2) and decided to see what we currently ‘actually’ do rather than what we just think we do.

Fancy joining us? We’re are inviting all out patients, friends and community members to get involved in a simple powerful movement challenge.

The NHS is encouraging everyone to walk 30 minutes a day (which over a month totals the ‘marathon’ distance) and we’re fully behind it. Daily walking is one of the easiest ways to improve your health, boost your mood, and build strength without needing the gym.

At Plym Physio the whole team are signing up for an extra challenge – A Step Challenge. Each day we will record how many steps we take per day and record it, seeing what those totals look like daily, weekly and over the whole month. Tracking steps is a great way to see you progress and stay accountable. You can do this will your phone or smart watch.

No doubt there will be a competitive streak running amongst the team as we all try to out-step each other. A little friendly rivalry never hurts – especially when it’s get everyone moving more.

Choose your challenge for October.

30 – Minute walk challenge – commit to walking 30 minutes every day throughout October

Step Challenge – join the team and see how many steps you do in a month.

How it works:

  • Walk daily (aim for 30 minutes if you can)
  • Record your step count or how much time spent walking
  • Watch your numbers through October
  • Celebrate the marathon level distance you’ll cover by the end of the month.

We’ve put up a chart in the clinic for the team and an extra sheet for anyone else who would like to join in. You can be anonymous or give a fake name if you want! And we’ll share our results as we go along. Feel free to guess who’s going to get the highest step count… Lily who walks the kids to and from school everyday, Nic who walks the dogs daily and gets a couple of runs and cross fit sessions in a week or Tom who throws himself round a rugby pitch a few times a week but drives everywhere else!
