Plym Physio Plymouth is more than your traditional physio clinic
We offer a bespoke, personalised physiotherapy service for our clients and work with them to understand their needs and to support them in their recovery.
It may be acute back pain that has persisted for a couple of days, a dodgy back when gardening, sciatica on and off for years or a grumbly achilles when running. Through all the phases of treatment offered at Plym Physio we can help: from recovery and rehab in our brand new specially equipped treatment rooms to ‘prehab’ and health maintenance using our movement analysis assessments and ‘Plym Pilates’ classes in our purpose built gym facility.
Team Plym Physio are very proud of our clinic at Seymour Road, Plympton, Plymouth where we have spacious, modern physiotherapy treatment rooms together with the brand new state of the art studio where we hold ‘Plym Pilates’ and ‘Physi-go run’ and ‘Physi-go mum‘ classes to make this a unique facility for Physiotherapy in Plymouth, Plympton and the surrounding areas.
Meet The Team

Nicola Rutherford
Having always been involved in sport, my formative years were reasonably competitive, starting out in gymnastics then switching across to diving as a relative veteran at the age of 14 and represented GB – I still have my tracksuit to prove it to the family!
My passions for my sports, physiotherapy and human movement are what drove me to get involved with professional sports. I’ve worked with Plymouth Albion, Plymouth Raiders in the past and more recently with British Diving.
Plym Physio started in a rented room back in 2006 and took the big step of moving into premises in 2016 and we’ve been steadily growing since then. I’ve had a daughter and this triggered the innovation of ‘Physi-go mum’. This class sits alongside the other classes I have developed at the clinic – Plym Pilates – rehab style movement efficiency pilates and latterly ‘Physi-go run’.
We feel there is much more to come from Plym Physio in the quest for helping people to get better so watch this space.
I hung up my swimsuit a long time ago but picked up some running shoes instead. Now a keen runner I have completed the London Marathon four times and also Boston in 2013, qualifying as a ‘good for age’ athlete. More recently I got into triathlons before having my daughter and managed a relay half-ironman last year with the goal of going solo. Soon. Ish!!

I run the Balance & Strength class as well as the Strength & Resilience class at Plym Physio, where there is something for anyone who wants to take some control of their future. With our experience and expertise we can help you stay mobile, strong and hopefully, injury free.

Tom Davies
Originally from Wales, I moved to Plymouth to study Physiotherapy at Plymouth University, graduating in 2022. Since then, he has gained invaluable experience working within the NHS, rotating through critical care, elderly rehab, and musculoskeletal outpatients. It was here that he cemented his passion for the type of physiotherapy he now brings to Plym Physio.
Physiotherapy has always been a part of Tom’s life. With a dad who worked as a sports therapist and a mum who’s a qualified masseuse, he grew up immersed in rehab and performance. His rugby career — including playing at age-grade international level and later with Plymouth Albion and Devonport Services — also means he’s experienced physiotherapy both as a patient and as a professional. This unique perspective shapes the way he works with clients, understanding firsthand what it takes to recover and perform at your best.
Tom brings a fantastic blend of acute NHS knowledge and long-term sports and exercise experience. He’s passionate about giving patients the time, care, and tailored treatment they need to achieve the best possible outcomes.
