Give the gift of continence this Mother’s Day… :)

Pregnancy and child-birth related incontinence…  yes… we said it… out loud

Its such a common issue, and yet women are so embarrassed about it that we rarely even talk about it to each other.

But, did you know that it can be prevented or even treated??

Growing a human is not an easy task, our body has to change dramatically to accomplish this amazing feat.  Babies are heavy and cause a great deal of stress on our muscles, and their heads are large, overly large in comparison to other mammals due to the large size required for the human brain.  This puts a great deal of pressure and strain on our body, but particularly on our pelvic floor.  Then of course, the birth process weakens them even further.

In fact, NICE guidelines state that women should have three months of pelvic floor training post-childbirth to prevent the condition from occurring, particularly for subsequent pregnancies.

Physio-go mum is a course designed to teach mums-to-be or new mums strengthening techniques in a Pilates-style class to help many of the medical issues that arise with child-bearing, not just incontinence.  It was designed and is run by a fully qualified female physiotherapist who herself has a young baby, and is held in the gym area of our physio clinic.  And, your new baby is part of the rehab, no childcare is needed.

The course starts on 24th March, just in time for Mother’s Day.  Perfect if you need a gift she can really appreciate for a lifetime… the gift of continence!

Spaces are limited though so call today to book.
